It’s been awhile since I have blogged but there was a lot of important events that have occurred within the 5 weeks I have been MIA: Ashton started Pre-K, school began again, and now we are waiting for the lovely Hurricane Irma to make her appearance.
As you may or may not know, I live in Northeast Florida, zone A, along the intracoastal waterway and we are to evacuate but we are not. Why? We never do. I know, I know each event can be different. We were actually debating evacuating up north around Georgia and South Carolina but when we realized Irma was going that direction, we decided to hunker down and stay.
Ashton is with his father during the storm because he lives further inland and they don’t feel the affect as us “beach” folks. We were out of power for four days and Ashton eczema flared up due to not having AC even though he was medicated.
The last hurricane was Hurricane Matthew and he hit last October 2016 and seeing our neighbors who are still recovering from his wrath just to now deal with Irma less than a year later is sad and heartbreaking.
I believe we are ready to head on Irma:
Water, generator, fully charged phone/ipad/laptop, perishable items, clean clothes, gassed up vehicles.
The storm plans to hit hard sometime tomorrow (Sunday), so I hope I will be able to come back on Monday or Tuesday and provide an update on the aftermath.
If you live in the path of Hurricane Irma, please be safe out there. Prayers for you!
